Commands Hang When changing to directory

Hi,

Currently, I have an Oracle file system that is mounted via Veritas CFS file systems. The DBA was in moving some files around and rendered directly unusable. When we try to change directly to /ora101/app/oracle/admin/dbda/bdump all commands hang.

This are our mount options

/ora101 on /dev/vx/dsk/orabindg/vol2 ioerror=mdisable,largefiles,qio,cluster,crw,delaylog,dev=2000bb9 on Tue May 12 15:31:05 2009

I have seen this issue hung processes with bad NFS mounts, but not file systems. Any idea what is happening here?

This is normal behavior when you cd or ls or such commands to a remote mounted file system when the file system is not mounted

only sent partial msg last time. will anything else work on that FS

Have you tried manual umount then remount as a test

Re: Commands Hang When changing to directory

It is not possible with the info provided by you...

It could be a hard disk issue. We had a similar issue sometime ago and it turns out to be the hard disk failed.

You should check the messages log and other syslog information... If this is a hard disk failure, there will be logs written in messages.
