Compaq Preserio 6000 w/XP No Sound

I just downloaded/installed SP-1 for Windows XP and now I do not have sound.
I have checked in the Hardware Profiles and there is no indicator of a problem. My speakers do work on another PC.
Is this the forum for this question? If not, can anyone be of assistance with resolving this problem?

Hi:

Since you didn't mention which submodel you have, the best I can do is suggest that you go to http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_list.asp
and locate the latest audio driver for your system and try installing that.
