Connect between HP-UX user sapr3 and informix-database fails

I can?t start our SAP R/3 server as the HP-UX user "sapr3" can not authenicate against the informix (7.23 UC3) db-server. Error code 12: Check your connect statement.

The passwords off the user on my HP 9000 D-Class (HP-UX 10.20) and in the table SAPUSER (cleartext-entry) are the same (looked it up via SQL-Query)... Any hints?
