Re: Copy Past on CDE

It depends on how you're accessing CDE and the hardware you're using.

On a native HP-UX workstation/keyboard/mouse, it's as simple as dragging your right mouse button across the desired text and clicking the left mouse button where you want to drop it.

If you're using WRQ Reflections emulation software, the right mouse button action is the same but you need to click both left and right simultaneously to drop (thought this can be disabled - see the XClient Manager's Settings for the Mouse).

If neither of those two platforms describe your situation, you'll need to give us some more details.

Re: Copy Past on CDE

I'm not familiar with Exceed but I would expect that there should be some configuration option for mouse behaviour. Have you checked to see how Exceed handles three button emulation?

Re: Copy Past on CDE

Hi

Make sure your font server is working then setup Exceed to run application.

Exceed is configured by the Xconfig window and the following settings:

1. Screen Definition

Open "Screen Definition" icon ,select desired window mode.

Note: If Multiple Window mode selected, then ensure the Window Manager is selected as "X". Or CDE's window manager
will not start.

2. Font

Perform these steps if HP-UX applications will be ran outside of the CDE environment:

a. Open the "Font" Icon ,select "Font Database", press the "Add" button and select the "Server" option.

b. Enter the IP address or full hostname of the system where the fontserver is running. Leave the rest default (tcp, 7000).

3. X Selection

Open "X Selection" and ensure the Selection is set to
"PRIMARY" and all checkboxes shown are checked
X Auto Copy X Selection
X Auto Paste To X Selection
X Copy on Focus Loss

Note: These settings are required if you want to do a "Cut & Paste" of a string between an HP-UX Xclient and a Microsoft client.

4. Communication

Open "Communication" and set the Mode to "Passive", if running applications outside of the CDE environment. Then set up Exceed
to start the desired application.

Otherwise, to get a CDE session running on your PC select one of the following:

1. Select XDMCP Broadcast;
this will give a list of hosts available
.

2. Select XDMCP -query; click on configure and fill in the "ConnectHost" field if you want to go directly to a known host.

3. Start up Exceed and log into a CDE session.

Re: Copy Past on CDE

There's a mistake in my original reply:

On a native HP-UX workstation/keyboard/mouse, it's as simple as dragging your right mouse button across the desired text and clicking the mouse button where you want to drop it.

It's the middle mouse button to drop, not the left as originally stated. The same would hold true for an xterm.
