Simpler Navigation for Servers and Operating Systems

DL580G2 vs DL585

Hello all!

At our company, we're a database solutions company, and we have our own database program that allows us to do queries quicker than Oracle in our own little niche market.

We've hit a performance problem with the P4 processor due to it's tiny L1 cache compared to the P3. With this in mind, we'd like to do a little testing of the DL585 whose Opteron processor has a much more generous amount of Cache.

While this is a cheeky question, you can only ask! Does anyone have a non-production DL585 that we can run performance tests of our own binaries? This will allow us to compare with our DL580's to see which way we should really go!

Thanks to any generous people who may reply!

Whilst probably not exactally what you're after, you could try looking at the systems on offer by HP's 'testdrive' program.

See http://www.testdrive.hp.com/ for details.

They have at least one Opteron available for testing purposes running Linux (see the list of 'Current Systems').
One long-haired git at your service...

Whilst it's not really what I'm looking for, that's still pretty handy to know! Thanks!!
