Data Protector 5.1 on RHEL 3

Hi folks,

does anyone know if Data Protector 5.1 will run on RHEL 3 as a Cell Manager ?
Or where I can get info regarding DP5.1 on RHEL ?

Many thanks

Re: Data Protector 5.1 on RHEL 3

hi,

nope, for DP 5.1 and below, RHat or for that matter any Linux flavour cannot be the cell manager, the only platform r HP-UX, Solaris and Windows. see specification for more info:

not too sure about DP 5.5 (beta) though.

regards.

Oh well. Thanks for the info.

Re: Data Protector 5.1 on RHEL 3

Data Protector 5.60 foreseen in September 2005 might contain support for Linux as cell manager...but that is not yet (hard) confirmed nor on which distro...

Thanks.

I guess we wont be moving forward onto linux for a while then. It's a shame really as Oracle has full linux support. HP really are a bit off the ball here.

They try to do their best. It just seems to take some time to get everything ported.
DP server is comming, not in 5.5, but it is on the roadmap for the version after that. As well as the ITO/OPC server.
