Display locked, will not read password

Hi.
I have a HP-UX 10.20 workstation.
The display is locked, either by pressing the padlock symbol, or by screensaver.

Now, I cannot unlock the terminal. The logon screen "Display locked by user xxxx. Enter password to unlock" is displayed, but it is in black/grey instead of in color as usual. It does not respond to any keyboard input.

I can access the workstation trough telnet or X-windows.
Is there some way to solve this without restarting the workstation.

regards,
D

Re: Display locked, will not read password

Start up a telnet session, become root, and try killing the dtwm process.

Re: Display locked, will not read password

Hi ,

Check for these two process in ps -eaf

/usr/dt/bin/dtlogin
/usr/dt/bin/dtterm

do a
# kill -9 < Pid 's>

# /usr/dt/bin/dtlogin

you would be able to get the login prompt, using X11.

Thanks,

... or restart Xserver with 'Strg'+'Shift'+'Pause/Break'
