ECC support of Memory device

hi,

my machine's motherboard supports DDR2 ECC memory type. i checked this with the output of dmidecode. But it displays ECC is not installed. is there any way to find out the presence of ECC.

Thanks in well advance.

Re: ECC support of Memory device

Apparantly, if there is an odd number of chips on you memory module, you are holding ECC memory in your hand. If there are an even number of chips, you are have a non-ECC module.

Have not verified this myself, and I am not positive that this is a concluding test, but I believe I have read about it somewhere. Maybe a small amount of googling could be used to verify...
