Email alert Insight 7

i have insight manager 7 sp2 and for some reason i can't setup email task notification.

the only task notification i can get is "new device discovered"... i have my smtp settings setup properly, and the public and private settings for snmp setup properly as well.... any ideas on what else to do???

try this diagnostic:

sendmail -v -d8.99 -d38.99 youraddress@your.net

type some text

Does the mail get anywhere? Do you get an error. If you can't get mail off the box thats the problem.

You might need to make sure DNS works so sendmail can find the destination.

check

/etc/nsswitch.conf
/etc/resolv.conf

You might have mail relay issues:

/etc/mail/sendmail.cf

DS
[IP_address_of_relay_server]

/sbin/init.d/sendmail stop
/sbin/init.d/sendmail start

Please post the last lines of your /var/adm/syslog/mail.log.

Please post the results of these commands:

grep DS /etc/mail/sendmail.cf

ps -ef | grep -i sendmail
