Facing issue while creating PV(Physical Volume)

I have LUN assigned for some mount point of about 40GB and already have 2 exixting VG. I just included this pv in the existing VG, but
i am able to see only 20 GB through pvdisplay. Even i have crate the lv and checked it. But through SAM utility it confirms that the LUN assigned was 40 GB. Any idea......

Re: Facing issue while creating PV(Physical Volume)

Your "MAX PE per PV" and "PV SIZE" parameters in the VG are probably too small for you to see the entire 40GB of your new LUN.

Do a 'vgdisplay -v ' and note the values for those 2 parameters. Now multiply them together. The product of those is the maximum size in MB you will be able to see on any PV you present to this VG.

If you are on HP-UX 11.23 or 11.31, you can use the 'vgmodify' command to modify the VG parameters so you can see the entire 40 GB of your new LUN. See the vgmodify man page for more details.

Re: Facing issue while creating PV(Physical Volume)

Patrick is right,

The MAX size of the disk you can create (have) in this vg is

MAX PE per PV * PE SIZE = 20GB (in your case).

in future when you are creating a new VG, you can define with -e ( extent size) to avoid this problem.
