Fedora 9 installation failure on HP dc5700 w/Samsung HDD

I'm trying to install Fedora 9 on an HP5700 PC that has a Samsung HD080HJ SATA drive installed. About 20 secs after Anaconda starts running, the install fails with this error:

Invalid object path '/org/freedesktiop/Hal/devices/storage_model_SAMSUNG_HD080HJ/' : ends with '/' and is not just '/'

install exited abnormally

I'm prompted to reboot at this point.

Based on the above error, is this a sata driver support issue, or does it look like the driver path is wrong on the install disk?

Any ideas?

Shalom,

That computer is certified only for Windows.

Contact HP and complain.

Get a Linux certified computer.

Re: Fedora 9 installation failure on HP dc5700 w/Samsung HDD

Hi Eric,

The problem is actually with the Harddisk. Fedora 9 has problems with some Samsung Harddisks as detailed here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs/Common, see section 1.3.3.

You could go back to Fedora 8 or trying the beta 10. Alternatively replace the drive with another, non Samsung model.
