Core 3. It came with 4 Disks. After running
through the Installation Process, everything
seemed to go well, and all seems OK, but I've
only used the first TWO disks!! When I try to load Disk 3&4, it doesn't recognize any disk
in the drive!! Should I be concerned or does anybody know what's up? Any help would be appreciated!! Oh, by the way, I'm a noobe to
Linux, and quickly becoming attached to it!!
I figure Uncle Bill has enough money and control!! Please get back to me.

Re: Fedora Core 3 Installation Questions
Disks 3 and 4 are optional programs not rquired by the OS. If you ever add a program thats on one of those disks, with the gui installer, you will be prompted for the disk.
You can if you wish mount the cd's and install software from them manually with the rpm command.

Solutiondisk 3 and 4 are optional. unless you choose some program which is stored on those disks fedora installation will not ask you for it.
also you cant expect the cd to be automounted and visible as you do in windows.
in linux(in general unix) you have to manually mount the CD to a mount point then you can go to that directory to access files.
in fedora you can try this method to mount CD.
mount /mnt/cdrom
this will mount /dev/cdrom to /mnt/cdrom and you can access files in the CD by browsing throuhg /mnt/cdrom

Gopi

Re: Fedora Core 3 Installation Questions
#fdisk -l
this will tell you what disk are seen and what their partitioning are !
if the missing disk are seen by fdisk then the card/cable kernel and drive are ok! the disk just need to be partition and a file system has to be put on to them before they can be mounted seen and use by application and/or users.
Have a read at man fdisk and ask for futher explainations if needed.

Re: Fedora Core 3 Installation Questions
Does this machine have any non-standard storage devices such as an Adaptec-array card, or SATA hard disks? If so you need to obtain a driver diskette and install using "linux dd". If you can give me some more details I can be a bit more specific.
