Completed: a much simpler Servers and Operating Systems section of the Community. We combined many of the older boards, so you won't have to click through so many levels to get at the information you need. Check the consolidated boards here as many sub-forums are now single boards.

Floating Point Exception Error

I am running Red Hat Linux 7.2 (Enigma) and on running the 'top' cmd, I get the following error message:

2:16pm up 273 days, 20:55, 4 users, load average: 0.04, 0.01, 0.00
197 processes: 196 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
Floating point exception

This looks like a bug to me. Does anybody know how I can resolve this?

Re: Floating Point Exception Error

1) Upgrade the latest I think is RHEL 5.
2) debug the core or try to compile a more recent version of top.

If it is not dumping core do "ulimit -c unlimited" and run top again.

Typically this is a divide by zero.
