Free Website? Unzipped AboutBuster?

Does anyone know where I can get a free webpage like geocities used to be. I need one that will let you upload .exe and dll files for people to download. Tried Yahoo/geocities but the new policy is to block the upload of everything but txt, gif and jpg files.

What I want to do is unzip some files for people who have no clue how to use winzip and post them on a website for them to download. (I tried email attachments and their postmaster sent me a nasty letter.)

If I can't roll my own does anyone know where I can point them to a site that has AboutBuster 4.0 already unzipped? Or perhaps in a self unpacking .exe file?

Re: Free Website? Unzipped AboutBuster?

Ron,

They have free zip utilities such as Coffeecup

http://www.camunzip.com/

http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Software/Unzipping_compression_freeware/

This tells you how to zip/unzip files using Winzip:

I don't know anything about the following, but,

Have you looked into bravenet.com or Tripod?

Hi Ron,

How about:

It is not free, but it does seem to be cheap.

And I'm sure we all want to support advertising that pushes the envelope.

Re: Free Website? Unzipped AboutBuster?

Turns out the problem wasn't that the people couldn't do the unzip. XP has a builtin unzip capability. Problem was that the spyware doesn't want AboutBuster to run and kills off some files it needs. They can be restored with this program:

Re: Free Website? Unzipped AboutBuster?

Ron,

If they're using XP, why don't they use the Microsoft Anti-Spyware utility. In the case of a redirect, I believe a popup warning appears and waits for approval before allowing the redirect. Plus with XP SP2, they have a popup killer.

Re: Free Website? Unzipped AboutBuster?

They were using AntiSpy. It doesn't seem to be able to kill this latest version of About:Blank (also known as SP). That's how I met them. I'm active in the AntiSpy forum and they were unhappy because AntiSpy couldn't make it go away. I offered to look at the HijackThis log. You know me. I'm the weird guy who actually enjoys wading through these things.

If you ever run in to it this is the only way that works with the new strain:

Re: Free Website? Unzipped AboutBuster?

Thanks, Ron,

I took a look at that link to the bleeping computer forum. Interesting to say the least. Tech Support's what I usually depend on when I can't resolve an issue alone. I try but I am completely new at being able to diagnose a problem.
