Getting UPS status
Hi
I have an unfortunate incident where one of my server's UPS failed to switch to backup battery during a power dip.
My UPS model is A2997A
Server is running HP-UX10.20
Are there any HP-UX commands to check the UPS status? for example low battery voltage, battery failure, overvoltage?

Re: Getting UPS status
Hi,
HPUX has ups_mond daeomon to report UPS status, provided correct /etc/inittab entries and /etc/ups_conf file configured.
This daemon reports meesages by using syslog logging facility. There may be other tools available, but not sure.
Good luck

Re: Getting UPS status
Hi,
You haven't mentioned whether you were running ups_mond to monitor the UPS. If you are then you really need to have the latest ups_mond patch (PHCO_24153) on the system (bearing in mind that 10.20 is an obsolete OS.)
The document that Robert-Jan mentioned is a good way to check the logs of the UPS for the status, but is no substitute for regular testing and maintenance, ie battery replacement.
regards,
Darren.
