Graphics Driver for ATI Mobility IGP 320M under Linux
I am attempting to get Linux (SuSE 9.1 Professional, although I have also tried Fedora Core2, Mandrake10, and Redhat Enterprise Linux Workstation) on an HP Pavilion ZE4200 Laptop. Everything works just fine with the exception of the graphics driver. Here is the problem... ATI does not provide support for their IGP product lines (including drivers) so they claim that one must turn to the OEM Manufacturer who built the system with their model card in order to get this driver. So, ATI does not supply the drivers for notebook video cards, HP does not have the drivers listed on the support section (even for Windows XP) so forget linux. So, here is my question... Does anyone know where someone could aquire the driver for the ATI Mobility IGP 320M graphics card for linux?Thank you for your assistance,Tyson Edwards,Director of Research & Development,CMS

Re: Graphics Driver for ATI Mobility IGP 320M under Linux
All recent distributions of Linux have some level of support for Radeon IGP hardware. Minimally you should be able to configure VESA framebuffer support. Mandrake and Red Hat 9 (and therefore Fedora core) provide patched versions of XFree86 4.3 that recognize and configure Radeon IGP hardware to use the radeon driver, albeit without 3D/DRI support. It is also possible to have working 3D if you use XFree86 4.4 and a 2.6 kernel. As with all things X, it is sometimes necessary to manually configure the XF86Config file.
You can find a more detailed (although slightly dated) discussion of graphics alternatives for most of the ze4000/ze5000 series hardware at my ze4100 web site:

Let us know specifically what isn't working, and we can probably get you straightened out.
