HIL-Interface for Keyboard, Mouse etc on HPUX11.i

Hi,

i have updated an C180 Workstation to HPUX 11.i, but i can't use my HIL-keyboard, mouse and digitizer anymore.
When UX boots, i get the message PS2-device found. I could use this, but i don't want to because of my digitizer (a new one would costs me 500 Euros !!!)

PROBLEM
I upgraded to HP-UX 11.11 (11i) and now I cannot get my HIL devices to work.

Are HIL devices supported under HP-UX 11.11?

HP-HIL (Hewlett-Packard Human Interface Link) devices are not supported under HP-UX 11.11 (11i).

RESOLUTION
The HP-HIL devices have been phased out on HP PA-RISC workstations with new processors. These workstations now employ PS/2 Mini-DIN and RS-232C serial devices and systems introduced after 1998 substituted USB devices for PS/2 devices.

NOTE: Most HP supplied HP-HIL devices were discontinued 1 December 1996.

There will be NO provisions to add the HP-HIL drivers into 11.11 (11i).

HIL with 11.00 should be fine, but only for 32-bit installations. There is no 64-bit support for HIL drivers.

An HIL digitizer is indeed an old device. The last tablet that HP supported was a serial tablet made, I think, by WACOM. It has been discontinued for several years.

If you are going to look for a new tablet, I would suggest that you check out whether they supply drivers for HP-UX. Not many vendors have done ports for HP-UX. There are some reference drivers that deliver with the Xserver, but they are all pretty old and may not work with the newer devices.

yes i resolved the problem with HPUX 11.0.
The HIL-Tablet works fine now.
