Hi,
Strictly No as it's a pure RISC Based server.

Re: HP 9000 Model D270 & Linux

But i understand that there is a RSIC based released of Linux.

so correct me if i am wrong,

if i use red hat linux, i will not be able to install it on my HP 9000 Model D270

i will have to find a RSIC based linux distrubtion to do it.

Re: HP 9000 Model D270 & Linux

Hi,
Is it a tested and full version or just a beta version ?
But as far as i know D270 will not support linux you may have to get the support document from redhat confirming the specific model. If redhat says tested and certified on the above model then go-ahead with it.

Re: HP 9000 Model D270 & Linux

The RISC linux is a joint project with HP and Debian.

I will drop a mail to Red Hat to check if they have a RISC linux project running on the model D270

thanks in advance.

Re: HP 9000 Model D270 & Linux

There is a PARISC based linux kernel and it's distributed as part of the stock Linus Torvalds kernel. Last I heard, the D class machines were "partially" supported but that might have changed by now.

Check out this page

Re: HP 9000 Model D270 & Linux

Hi,
I knew this but i heard that they are only 95% successfuk in that and yet to be released.
http://www.parisc-linux.org/hardware/supported.html
The above link will atleast tell it's not supported in D-class.
