HP DLA Software

Using HP DLA software for HP 9300i CD writer in Windows XP. DLA works well for drag and drop of files, cut and paste of files, but will not allow "save," from another program, such as WORD, stating in error message, "too many files are open or disk is full." This will happen to a newly formatted CD. Any ideas -- is it an XP problem or something else?
