HP Serevers that can run HP-UX

Hi Guys,

I need to buy a HP server that supports HP-UX version 11.23, the cheaper the better.

What are the options I have? What is the lowest server that can run HP-UX ?

There are Integrity and PA-RISC servers. HP no longer sells the latter.

Is this for production or hobby / learning use?

Any performance, scaling, support, vendor or packaging (rackmount, deskside, blade) requirements?

The cheapest server to run HPUX that HP will sell is the rx2660, or an Itanium blade... if you have the infrastructure.

With no futher requirements I would suggest a used ZX600, RX2600 or RX2620.

Those show up on Ebay frequently, like 3-packs RX2600s going for $525 often.
That gives you all the spares you'll ever need :-)
Shipping to India might be an issue.

Many web servers will compile and run on HP-UX.

Easy way is a depot. hpws search on http://software.hp.com

HP-UX is hardware dependent OS and you can install it in the following server platforms.

HP9000 PA-RISC, rp/SD series Servers
HP Intergrity Itanium rx/SD series servers.
HP Inetgrity Itanium BL series Blade servers.

The saling of PA-RISC is absolute.
You may go for rx series Itanium servers or BL series Blade servers according to your requirment.

That's a little absolute.

Perhaps you meant "The lowest HP server that YOU CAN BUY NEW, TODAY, FROM HP, and can run HP-UX" is...

I'm running HP-UX 11.31 just fine in my lab (ok... basement), on an RX2600 which I bought ealy this year fro less than $500. Just not directly from HP, and not new.
