HP-UX 11.11 Installation on an HP E45

Hello, we currently have an HP E45 as our sandbox.We would like to try to upgrade the OS from HP-UX 11.0 to 11.11.However, the E45 is not in the list of supported servers for 11i.Has anyone tried to install 11i on a E45?Was it successful.Are there any hardware issues?

I have installed HP-UX 11.11 on an E35 and an E55 successfully. I have had no problem with hardware. The CD-ROM drives on those machines are generally pretty slow, so be prepared for it to take a while. Make sure you size your VGs appropriately for whatever size hard drives you have.

Also turn off ALL unnecessary services since those boxes didn't have a whole lot of RAM.

On my E55 I have 320 MB or RAM and 512 MB of swap and I am not swapping at all. This machine is acting very well as a mail server running qmail.

The E's are not "OFFICIALLY" supported on 11.11 but they do work. Just don't expect any help from HP if you have problems.
