Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
Torsten-, thank you very much!!! I've followed to your advice - I replaced FC-Adapter from one of the bottom slots to the most top - 12-st. Also I've found out, that on the FC-Adapter there it is written the following:
A6795A
FIBRE CHANNEL
2G/1G
FTRJ-8519E1B-2.5 (I don't know, what it is, maybe - model no is)
S/N: H121QQZ
Then I've turn on the system and I've catch out that "ioscan -nf" command has successfully found fibre channel adapter! That's great! The output is following:
bash-2.04# ioscan -nf
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
===========================================================================
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
ba 1 0/1 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 2 0/2 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 3 0/3 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 4 0/4 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 5 0/5 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 6 0/8 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 7 0/9 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
ba 8 0/10 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
fc 0 0/10/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2 Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td0
ba 9 0/12 lba CLAIMED BUS_NEXUS Local PCI Bus Adapter (782)
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...
Also, as Mark Nieuwboer advised, I re-installed special files in the devices directory, using "insf -e" command.
Now I have new device file - it is /dev/td0. "# file /dev/td0" command returned:
/dev/td0: character special (49/0)
Now there is other question - and how is it possible to mount disks from virtual array to system? "mount /dev/td0 /mnt/va7410" returned:
mount: /dev/td0 is an invalid operand
Once again all many thanks!!!

Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
The fd0 device is of your lan.
ith fcsmutil /dev/fd0 you can get your mac-adress. on your virtueel array you must prounance this mac-adress and give this device some storage.
After this you run insf -e twice on your unix and than do an ioscan -fnCdisk. Now you should see your new disk.
then do a pvcreate
vgcreate
lvcreate
nefws
mount file system.

Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
Now you need to connect your notebook to the serial line and start an emulation software (hyperterminal - speed 9600) to create a small LUN0. This enables every connected system to find the array.
Now you should install the configuration software on your HP-UX host. It is called commandview sdm. See this link:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=30591&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=64112&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=7
Here is the manual with all the steps in detail:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00662561/c00662561.pdf
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
But I haven't understood a little, what is it necessary to do with results of this command?
# fcmsutil /dev/td0
Vendor ID is = 0x00103c
Device ID is = 0x001029
XL2 Chip Revision No is = 2.3
PCI Sub-system Vendor ID is = 0x00103c
PCI Sub-system ID is = 0x00128c
Previous Topology = UNINITIALIZED
Link Speed = 1Gb
Local N_Port_id is = 0x000000
Local Loop_id is = 126
N_Port Node World Wide Name = 0x50060b000012f7cb
N_Port Port World Wide Name = 0x50060b000012f7ca
Driver state = CS_FLOGI_SENT
Hardware Path is = 0/10/0/0
Number of Assisted IOs = 0
Number of Active Login Sessions = 0
Dino Present on Card = NO
Maximum Frame Size = 960
Driver Version = @(#) PATCH_11.11: libtd.a : Jun 28 2002, 11:08:35, PHSS_26799
Where can I find the MAC-address? And where and how should I use it?
Also, yet I don't manage to understand how I should give this device some storage...
P.S. I'm sorry for my silly questions. I work with HP-UX about one month of all. That's why I can't understand some things.

Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
the mac adress = N_Port Node World Wide Name = 0x50060b000012f7cb
I don't know accetly how to configurate the va7410. But when you configure a lun on this you should see the disk when you do an ioscan -fnCdisk the internal disk will show with something called HP in the name and devicepath 0/ please see for the configuration of va7410 the docs.

Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
I still assume there is no data on your array and you want to do a fresh setup.
Connect your laptop to the serial line like menioned above.
You should see this prompt:
READY >
Now you can review the current settings by typing
READY > dsp -?
this will give you the help.
READY > dsp -L
will give you a list of LUNs. If a LUN 0 is there, you should now install commandview and manage the array from your HP-UX host.
The ioscan should look like these:
fc 1 1/0/12/0/0 td CLAIMED INTERFACE HP Tachyon XL2
Fibre Channel Mass Storage Adapter
/dev/td1
fcp 1 1/0/12/0/0.1 fcp CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP Domain
ext_bus 6 1/0/12/0/0.1.18.0.0 fcparray CLAIMED INTERFACE FCP
Array Interface
target 20 1/0/12/0/0.1.18.0.0.0 tgt CLAIMED DEVICE
disk 8 1/0/12/0/0.1.18.0.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP
A6189A
/dev/dsk/c6t0d0 /dev/rdsk/c6t0d0
(your HW-pathes are different)
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

So I don't see any LUN at all...
What can means the string "Not Enough Drives"? Is it possible, that it is an error and that's why it can't create pseudo-LUN 0?

Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
cfg -L 0 -a 20 -g 1
You should contact HP and get a new battery. This will speed up the array.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: HP-UX 11.11 and Fiber Channel Adapter
I added two LUNs:
============================================
Warning State > cfg -L 0 -a 100 -g 1
Lun:0
Capacity:100
Redundancy Group: 1
Warning State > cfg -L 1 -a 1000 -g 1

Capacity:1000
Redundancy Group: 1
Warning State > dsp -L
LUN 0:
Capacity: 100.0 MB
Number of Snapshots: 0
RGID: 1
LUN 1:
Capacity: 1000.0 MB
Number of Snapshots: 0
RGID: 1
============================================
After that, on my HP-UX host, I executed:
bash-2.04# ioscan -fnCdisk
Class I H/W Path Driver S/W State H/W Type Description
=========================================================================
disk 0 0/0/1/1.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 36.4GMAM3367MC
/dev/dsk/c1t2d0 /dev/rdsk/c1t2d0
disk 1 0/0/2/0.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP 36.4GMAM3367MC
/dev/dsk/c2t2d0 /dev/rdsk/c2t2d0
disk 2 0/0/2/1.2.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP DVD-ROM 305
/dev/dsk/c3t2d0 /dev/rdsk/c3t2d0
disk 3 0/10/0/0.8.0.110.0.0.0 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP A6218A
disk 4 0/10/0/0.8.0.110.0.0.1 sdisk CLAIMED DEVICE HP A6218A
Now I see two LUNs, that I've just added, but I can't do anything. I executed "insf -e" (twice) and now there is two new disk-files available for me:
/dev/dsk/c4t0d0
/dev/dsk/c4t0d1
No one won't want work from the following commnds:
# pvcreate /dev/dsk/c4t0d0
# vgcreate /dev/dsk/c4t0d0
# lvcreate /dev/dsk/c4t0d0
# newfs /dev/dsk/c4t0d0
# mount /dev/dsk/c4t0d0 /mnt/va7410
Also, I tried to install CommandView SDM from depot "cvsdm_11_11_v10600.depot" by command:
# swinstall -s ./cvsdm_11_11_v10600.depot
(from local folder). But it failure: swinstall said:
ERROR: A Remote Procedure Call to a daemon has failed. Could not
start a management session for "HPUX:/". Make sure the host
is accessible from the network, and that its daemon, swagentd,
is running.
It is very strange because swagent is running and the network (and hosts) is available. So now I can't run command view SDM.
By the way, I received this HP-UX Server in "ready-to-use" state, but there is too many stranges (for example, swinstall work very strange). So I plan to reinstall operating system anew to be assured what and how there works. To tell the truth, I never before installed HP-UX.
