HP-UX 11i version 1.5, 1.6

I know that this has been beaten to death but I just want to make sure. I have ordered an rp7410 with the 870mhz processors. I am told that rp7410 is a Itanium based server but can still use the PArisc processor. I am also told that the only supported OS for the rp7410 is 11i version 1.5.

Now every thing I have read has said that version 1.5 is for the Itanium processor. If this is the case, how is it going to handle the PArisc processors that I have ordered?

Can version 1.5 handle both processors and version 1.6 only handle the Itanium processor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

currently, 11i 1.5 is for non-Itanium systems, and 11i 1.6 is Itanium ONLY
The rp7410 comes wit PA-risc processors at the moment, so you can only install 11i 1.5

ah wouldn't you know it, I got myself in a twist.
1.5 AND 1.6 are IPF or Itanium Product Family releases.
So neihter will work on a PA-RISC box, which the rp7410 currently is.

New Features in HP-UX 11i Version 1.5



HP-UX 11i Version 1.5 (B.11.20) adds software functionality and support for ItaniumTM-based systems to HP-UX. HP-UX 11i Version 1.5 (B.11.20) is intended for all Itanium processor family (IPF) based HP-UX systems. PA-RISC based systems should continue to run the HP-UX 11i or HP-UX 11.x releases. This release will not run on PA-RISC based systems

As has been pointed-out, the rp7410 is PA-RISC. Also, it has 75-0 or 875 MHz processors, not 870.

11i 1.5 is also known as 11.20. 11i 1.6 is also known as 11.22. 11.22 extends 11.20 to include support for the Itanium2 (what has also been called McKinley) processors which are currently found in the rx5760, the 1-4 CPU, 7U system, the rx2600, the zx2000 and zx6000.

The latest PA-RISC HP-UX release is simply "11i" which is also known as 11.11.

It will be a future release of HP-UX that handles both PA-RISC and IPF systems.

Thanks to all of you for your input . I think I have a handle on it know. I don't know if any of you work with the configuration guides, but some times what it tells you is not the case at all.
