HP-UX raw disk configuration Steps required
Hi HP-UX Gurus,
DBA Team will be installing Oracle 11gR2 on HP-UX 11.31 Server.
I will be configuring RAW disk for Oracle Database.
RAW will be created using the Whole disk , LVM will not be used.
RAW disk have to shared between 2 nodes.
I have reeceived the 12 LUN shared between Node1 and Node 2 from SAN Team.
I am able to find the shared disk on both the nodes.
I would request you to help me with steps for Creating RAW disk using the Whole Disk for Oracle RAC 11gR2.
And also with the steps to for the RAW disk after it is created.
Thanks in Advance.
Thanks,
Reema.

Re: HP-UX raw disk configuration Steps required
Reema,
first thing you need to do is determine which disk is which on both hosts. What type of SAN storage do you have? You will presumably have some sort of tool for that - e.g. syminq for EMC, evainfo for EVA, xpinfo for XP... so what is your storage?

Re: HP-UX raw disk configuration Steps required
Hi
have you considered using ASM for your environment ?

Re: HP-UX raw disk configuration Steps required
Jean-Luc,
As he's running 11gR2 I'd assume he (or at least his DBAs) is using ASM anyway, as 11gR2 makes it almost impossible to create a true "raw disk" database, rather than an "ASM raw disk" database...

Duncan
this was not specified in the original post. But this makes sense.
