HP pavillion 6736 processor upgrades
hello all, i have an HP Pavillion 6736 KR, and i am looking to buy a newer, faster processor. the website (http://www.hp.com/cgi-bin/cposupport/get_doc.pl?SNI=hppavilion24610&LC=personal_computing&Tfile=bph06110#P10_638) says not to push the processor beyond 800 mHz, but does anyone have any reason why going to a 1 GHz Celron or a 1.5 GHz AMD athlon processor is a bad idea? Should it or should it not theoretically work?
any help would be appreciated because processors arent really my department
thanks,
dan

Re: HP pavillion 6736 processor upgrades
Dan,
You cannot go faster than the Bios or Clock will allow.
It is a design limitation.
Regards,
Seb

Re: HP pavillion 6736 processor upgrades
However, there may well be workarounds or replacement boards. Best source for help on this wuld be the Pavilion forums -- there are quite a few very knowledgeable people there who can probably help.
