HPUX 11.X and Oracle 8.X migration

We are planning to upgrade OS on our J box from 10.20 to 11.X so that we can upgrade Oracle 7.3.4 to 8.X. Just want to find out if anyone has done this before and what's the best way to do it? Thanks.

The general consensus on the HPUX upgrade from 10.20 to 11.00 is the do a cold(fresh) installation of 11.00. Then your can install your oracle applications and follow the laid down procedures by oracle for their software upgrade migration.

Clean install to 11, install new oracle 8, reload db, upgrade db.

Tried doing upgrades to 11 & Oracle 8, waste of time. Much faster and safer to clean install.

Hi there.
The ideas are excellent, but here one more
guess. Do an export of your existing databases,
the do the clean install of HP-UX and the Oracle software, create a new database and import the data.
