HPUX Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search port
Seeing as I'm such a nice guy and I have a LOT,
must say that again a LLOOTT,
of CPU and memory resources available I decided
to put them to good use (other than training)
(I've already ruled out Napster :( ) so I did
some brief investigation.. I think seti is well
established in the screensave dept so I chose
http://www.mersenne.org/ Primary number search
BUT it ain't ported to HPUX, so I got in touch with the coordinator and he mentions:
"
You'll need to visit ftp://hogranch.com/pub/mayer/gimps_timings.html
or http://www.belchfirecomputing.com/GIMPS/GIMPS.html
for source code you can compile and run on the machines.
If you get that working I can supply you with sufficient exponents.
"
Seeing as I still have nightmares over final
year maths exams 5 years later I decide not
to bother.. so If anyone is cool at porting
could they port this... or suggest a better
use of CPU resources...
Point mean prizes!
(happy paddys day the 17th btw)
