HPUX, Oracle, and asynchI/O
Hey;
We've been chasing a very ugly performance issue on an 11g database for over a week now so I'm going back and validating the core assumptions we've made
I've heard from more than one dba that HPUX doesn't support asynchI/O except on raw devices. Is that true and is anyone aware of any official documentation stating such?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Re: HPUX, Oracle, and asynchI/O
Hey;
Nevermind; I got it. It's listed in the oracle documentation at http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B10812_06/appendix_b.htm#i637036.
It'd still be nice to see something from HP saying 'not supported'; however, if oracle flat out says it's not going to work, then the dbas aren't likely to believe otherwise.

Re: HPUX, Oracle, and asynchI/O
Shalom Doug,
HP-UX does support asynch I/O.
The initial releases of 11.00 and 11iv1 did not, but workarounds were subsequently provided by HP.
I ran Oracle 8/9/10 on rp5450's PA-RISC in Chicago and can assure you we enabled asynch I/O.
