HPUX event monitoring service

Hi

I am hoping someone can help with the following query.

We have an HP 9000 Nclass system with 11.00b operating system. At the weekend it complained on of the PSU was faulty so we replaced the unit.

Ever since this though the event Monitoringkeeps telling us about the below every 15 minutes so we replaced these parts today but it still complaining even though it’s only informative. I’m wondering could it be a software glitch it’s been working fine upto the PSU been replaced.

Re: HPUX event monitoring service

Before giving the following a try, make sure you have the file mentioned in step #2. If so, then these steps should work.

1. stop EMS

# /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig

and then "k" for Kill

2. remove/rename the file /var/stm/logs/monitor/remindersel.dat

3. start EMS

# /etc/opt/resmon/lbin/monconfig

and then "e" for enable

Don't be overly concerned if stopping/starting "monconfig" takes a few minutes.

Re: HPUX event monitoring service

Hi

I’ve just checked our system and we don’t have the monitor directory. With the logs directory we just have decide, os, sys, tools and utilities directory’s

Also done a search for the file noted on the full system but can’t find anything.

Thank

Re: HPUX event monitoring service

I'm having a similar problem. I think this may fix it though; I commented the following line from the referenced config file (/var/stm/config/tools/monitor/default_dm_core_hw.clcfg):

# EVENT_BP_PS_OK
#EQ:59 :INFORMATION :TRUE :9999999 :ANY :1 :NONE :NO_OP:NO_OP:NONE

The informational message I was seeing was for event #59. I'm assuming you'll want to comment out this guy for #18

# EVENT_CAB_POWER_OK:
EQ:18 :INFORMATION :TRUE :9999999 :ANY :1 :NONE :NO_OP:NO_OP:NONE

Since editing this file and restarting the monitor, things seem good.

Cheers.

Re: HPUX event monitoring service

Just a quick follow-up. So after commenting the informational messages out of the config, I've still seen the messages pop up once randomly. Previously they were being logged every 15 minutes or so.  Time to call a witch-doctor.
