High LUNs in HP-UX

Hi

We have a target device connected to a SAN.
I have noticed that HPUX can work with LU numbers 0-7.
LUNs higher than 7 can not be accessed by HPUX.
I have also noticed that if i define LUN 0 as raid device (0xC) then i receive a scsi report LUNs command from the HPUX however only LUNs 0-7 are being accessed.

How can i make HPUX access LUNs higher than 7?
Are there some specific flags in Inquiry or inquiry page 80h they i should set?
Do i need inquiry page 80h at all?

Thanks,
Michael

Michael,
There has been some discussion in this forum on the same subject, please review the link below and that should throw some light

Re: High LUNs in HP-UX

If there is no disk assigned on lun0 hp-ux typically detects the disk array itself as a disk. Except its not a disk and can generate EMS errors.

The rule of thumb in the past for LUN's higher than 7 is yes, on HP disk arrays.

I have been waiting several years for a patch that will allow hp-ux to access lun numbers above 7 on non-hp disk arrays.

It probably depends on your disk array vendor how many luns are assignable.
