How much time it takes to do a 9i database (1.5TB) metadata export with rows=n

Hi!

We are going to migrate a database (9i) from solaris(sparc) to HP-UX.

Wanted to know how much time does it take to do an export of the source database's metadata by doing an export with "rows=N" option ?

And you asking this Oracle question, for which which the answer depends on Solaris system characteristcs in an HPUX forum because... ???

The fact that the export is entended to be used on HPUX seems of zero relevance to me!

The answer to you question is of course 'it depends'. It depends database characteristics like on the number of columns, indexes, tables, and so on. It depends on the system characteristics like disk speed, cpu speed, memory and so on.

But typically it would not take long at all. Think minutes, not hours. And it would not generated much data. Think (10 of) Megabytes, not (10s of) Gigabytes.

So... why not just try it !?!?

Cheers,
Hein.
