How to install Codeword for HP C/ANSI C developer's bundle in HP-UX 11.23

Hi,

I have the 60 trial of the C compiler installed, and now we purchased it and have the codeword. But I have been unable to install it with the depot provided with the trial.

Is it possible to install the Codeword with that depot? Or must you have the Application CD (which we lack at the moment)?

Thanks!

Thats where we put the Trial license code.

But I thought that Codewords had to find there way into /var/adm/sw/.codewords ?

Hello,

Ahh, codewords and license details
can be found in number of different files
on HP-UX. Take a look at some of them I found
over many years:

/opt/sva/etc/license/SVA.lic
/etc/update.lib/codeword
/var/adm/sw/.codewords
/var/opt/perf/gkey
/var/opt/perf/mwakey
/var/opt/perf/pvkey
/opt/perf/newconfig/gkey
/var/opt/OV/HPOvLIC/LicFile.txt
/etc/opt/OV/HPOvLIC/.license
/etc/opt/ldapux/licenses/libxml2-license.txt
/opt/wlm/lib/mongui/LGPL.txt
/opt/wlm/lib/README.libxml2
...
and so on (in addition to commands
vxlicense(1M), vxlicrep(1M) and
vxenablef(1M) commands)...

Cheers,

VK2COT

By the way, I check which of these
files are in use:

that's where the codeword is needed when you install from the application cd.

Use swinstall to reinstall ANSI/C, specifying the permanent codeword. You will probably have to change options in order to set "reinstall" to true.

You can not. You must remove the trial version and install the official version.

>Or must you have the Application CD?

Yes, from the application CD. Or if you have a support contract, you can download it from the SUM program.

>I thought that Codewords had to find there way into /var/adm/sw/.codewords?

That's correct. You provide that info on the swinstall command.

>Pete: You will probably have to change options in order to set "reinstall" to true.

No, you have to remove the trial version first.

Hi NateJones,

Firstly remove the previous installed software. Now, install the newly purchased software from SAM with codeword. From SAM ,
go add codeword from menu. Add codewared and install software from SAM.

Hi,

As Taifur said do it from SAM, SAM is the right tool to add codeword.
