How to save Word 2003 docs in Word 2000 format dy default?

Hi all!
We have MS Office 2003 and, by specific means, want all doc files (from Word 2003) to be automatically saved by default in Word 2000 format - how to accomplish this?

Thank you in advance!

Usually, in the Tools->Options menu, there is a properties page for "Save" with a section for "Default Format". Change the format and click ok.

In Word 2002, this is the case.

In Word 2003, the same holds true... except that there are no additional options for Word "doc" files, only the standard file. There is however a "Compatibility" tab which allows you to make your "universal doc" file more compatible with Word 2000.

Unfortunately, I think that there is not a way to specifically set the default save to Word 2000, rather in Word 2003.. the doc file created is compatible with All versions of Word generically, with additional specific compatibility options which you can turn on and/or off as needed depending on your needs.

I could be wrong...This is what it seems to be though.

Steven's right, You would want to go into Tools, Options, Compatibility tab, and set the compatibility to 2000. Next, click on the "Default" button, to set the changes into the NORMAL.DOT file for all future documents.

This turns OFF the various enhanced features found only in 2002 and 2003 versions.
