How to set 8k block size in SUSE 9.4

Hi all,
We are using suse 9.4(x86_64).
As per the DB team they want the block size of the Operating system should be set to 8k.
So we planned to create a testing server. But as per Novell, they will stop the support if we recompile the kernel wil 8k.

So I have two doubts.
Is it possible to set this kernelvalue at the time of installation?
If not what is the procedure to recompile the kernel?

Please help me to solve this.

¿Why do you thinkg that 8k is not supported? I beleave they are talking about the file system block size. They can also use just ASM.

Hi,
I tried with the xfs file system which supports the 8k block size, but the existing kernel was not supporting as it was compiled with 4k only.
As the Database Team wants the block size of the file system should be 8k, i have no other way other than recompiling the kernel.
Could you help us by providing the procedure or any other way to achieve that?
