How to setup NIC (D-Link) card on pavilion 6630 with nt4.0

I was trying to setup winnt4.0 with 6630 pavilion.
My com1 is with irq=3 and address= 3f8.
but d-link card is not responding with a error of irq.

com1 is a standard serial port; I suggest you avoid attempting to use this irq and address for your nic card. You probably have a conflict between the serial port and the nic and where the serial port is isa based, it will not usually allow you to share these resources with non-serial devices. The serial port is usually part of the motherboard and device configuration is usually handled by the system bios; if you still want to use these resources for the nic you will need to disable the serial port.

The usual irqs used for nics is either irq 10 or 11, but I'm not sure if your DLink card is 16 bit, PCI or whatever. If the nic can't use either of these two, irqs 5 or 7 would be better but you may run into some other device conflicts.

A quick look at the resources tab of Windows NT Diagnostics (under Administrative Tools) will tell you what resources are already in use.
