How to tune a database with TOAD

Hi,
I need to tune a database. I can only use TOAD 7.2.
For example I'm using database monitor but I have some problem to analyse the graphics.
I'm gonna give ten points to everyone who will give to me some help to use TOAD and how to tune the result.

Thank you

Re: How to tune a database with TOAD

hi,

The Database Monitor lets you monitor database performance with nine charts:
a. Logical IO,
b. Physical IO,
c. Event Waits,
d. Sessions,
e. Call Rates,
f. Miss Rates,
g. SGA Memory Usage,
h. Shared Pool, and
i. Indexed Queries %.

You can launch the monitor in the morning, minimize the window, and later in the day if a threshold is crossed you'll be alerted.

You need to analyze these values as per your environment. Unless, you post you observation, we cannot further help you...

For power users, it is recommended to use STATSPACK with comes with the Oracle Installation itself. The Statspack report for a 15 minutes interval would give you much information about your system. The report also contains hints on how to interprete the values, what are the expected values etc..

E.g.

...
->"Get Requests", "Pct Get Miss" and "Avg Slps/Miss" are statistics for willing-to-wait latch get requests
->"NoWait Requests", "Pct NoWait Miss" are for no-wait latch get requests
->"Pct Misses" for both should be very close to 0.0
....

hope this helps!

Re: How to tune a database with TOAD

hi,
the file you have uploaded is corrupted!

instead, can you post a 15-interval Statspack report?

that would be better.

regards
Yogeeraj

Re: How to tune a database with TOAD

hi,

since you already have another post (well 2) for the STATSPACK report analysis.

Maybe you should "close" this one.

thanks
Yogeeraj
