Re: I'm looking for a free VIRUS SCANNER for linux

Many moons ago, I asked this very same question.

There is one open source solution in the thread. I should have given the guy a bunny.

Re: I'm looking for a free VIRUS SCANNER for linux

There's actually a few available now. The one I use is 'clam' ( http://www.clamav.net/ ). It has many plugins, including sendmail milters, samba AV libs, and can be reasonably easily put into a sequid cache path.

There's documentation and helper applications listed onthe website.

There RPM's available, including one for their pattern auto-updater (called 'freshclam').
One long-haired git at your service...

Chris,

Check the following web page for a list of free virus scanners -- http://www.freebyte.com/antivirus/#scanners

Personally, I'm using Sophos to scan UNIX/Linux Samba servers, but that's not free.
