I've never seen this message in syslog before...

Any Ideas as to the cause/solution?

Dec 21 12:16:46 magpie /usr/dt/bin/ttsession[5874]: svc_getreqset: No transport handle for fd 8876

Thanks,

Looks like a CDE problem. Most likely with dt logins. You might have a missing/old/incompatible Xlib or X application. If the message really bothers you, have a look at CDE patches.

Hi Thomas,

Guessing you're running 11.0....

ttsession logging spurious errors to syslog has been corrected since a long time.

This is the latest superseeding patch:
Patch Name: PHSS_20864
Patch Description: s700_800 11.00 CDE Runtime MAR2000 Periodic Patch

Here is the D/L link:
ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_22341

Please note that another patch is available for the Dev. Kit. (PHSS_22342)
ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/hp-ux_patches/s700_800/11.X/PHSS_22342

Best regards,

Dan

Hi again,

The download links are OK but the patch description doesn't correspond.

That's cutting and pasting.... ;-)

Re: I've never seen this message in syslog before...

Hi,

Can you please check what the latest ksh patch is you have on the system.
If the ksh cummulative patch is lower than PHCO_21185, install one of the latest patch.
Check the rating of the patch, choose either level2 or level3.

Good luck.

I agree with Darrel, I think it is ksh problem.
