IT Budget/Project Funding (Virtualization)
Hey folks, I was wondering, how are your IT budgets till the end of the year and if you are able to get projects approved for funding, and what trick (if any) do you use to get projects funded. We are having tough time to get our projects off the ground. Any advice will be appreciated

Re: IT Budget/Project Funding (Virtualization)
Wonder what your issue is all about? Which virtualization solution are you going to implement? Consider OpenVZ, this solution gives you a better hardware consolidation. Parallels (new avatar of SWSoft) is a commercial solution.

Re: IT Budget/Project Funding (Virtualization)
It all depends what kind of a solution that ur going to provide. Normally if its a DR or HA project you can do a justification on Downtime/effort,man power, cost involved in making things back too normal.Future expansion and the impact and cost you will cut down due to your new infrastructure.
No1 is never say this is your requirement, say its a company requirement.
Show them that they are investing for the future. not just for now.
show them the cost that will save from A/C, Power, Space,Racks
Put the word "Green Computing", thats the trend these days.
Its all how you present it boss. Be prepared for any questions. i have done few of these so i can help u out if you need more info.
