My servers have Intel cards. Intel makes it childs play to create a boot disk or cd for their cards that boots and network enables you.
Under this scheme you can boot, connect to a network server and save a system image of the entire hard disk for replication.
Alas, you scenario does not perfectly fit into any of the circumstances. It its an HP Itanium Server I doubt mondorescue is going to work.
Seems HP-UX is worth paying for if you ask me, which you didn't. Thats because with HP-UX IPF you get Ignite for free.

It is kind of mondorescue, but has been ported to Linux/ia64 and Linux_x64
