Importing from Data dump files

I am trying to import some database object
from an export dump file and getting the
following error message:

IMP-00037: Character set marker unknown
IMP-00021: operating system error - error code (dec 2, hex 0x2)
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

Any idea what is the cause of this problem.
Greatly appreciate your help.

Hi:

Error #2 is a "no file or directory" error.
