Informix License Number Viewing

guys, how can i view the contract/license number of our informix dbase? its installed in an UX 11.00 box...

you can view this in the
INFORMIXDIR/logs/online.log

The logs are updated when the server is started up!

Check in the product installation directory for the following file hidden file:-

/etc/.snfile

IT has the Informix Versions and Serial Keys.

Your default install location is normally /usr/informix so the 1st place to look is in /usr/informix/etc/.snfile, and if its not in there then you can search for the .snfile

Look at $INFDORMIXDIR/etc/.snfile

Interestingly the will be no serial number for the new 9.40 release in .snfiles it says

Informix Dynamic Server Serial Number AAA#B000000

Last week i had a eval copy downloaded from the informix site.
I have the same serial number as yours.

Not sure whether this points to eval copy.

Is yours a licensed one!

Yes it's a licensed copy.

The same number was printed on the license sheet and the installation script never asked me for a
Serial number and key.

I talked to IDS support, apparently this is the new IBM licensing schema, the guy said that all the new products will no longer ask for Serial/key.
