Hi there
I am quite new to hp unix and I just bught server for practice.My server has os11.According to the vendor it is error free but when I start up and start to work on suddenly I get massege
" Init command is respawing too rapidly will try again in 5 min. check for possible errors."
Can any body help me to solve this problem? and also I need to know if I could get helpful unix books which could help to beginner. thank you very much.

There are many causes which could trigger this error. Essentially, you have a command in inittab that is set to "respawn" and there is a problem. I've even seen a simple getty do that on a very long open serial cable in a noisy environment. Issue a dmesg command and examine /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log for more clues.

I give the book HP-UX CSA: Study Guide and Desk Reference (Rafeeq Ur Rehman) to the new students I hire. (I've got one starting tomorrow, he's getting the book.) It gets them moving in the right direction. You might look at it to get you going.
