Install Tape Under Linux

Hi,I am a HP user,and my Server is HP Lp1000r
My Tape is HP 24E,and My OS is Red Hat 7.1.First I install the Linux 7.1,then I connect to the Tape,But I can not find the Tape
in the Linux neither use "mt" nor use "tar",why?who can help me?

Hi

I have some questions.

Which scsi card to use when you connect 24e?
On board scsi ? or SCSI card in PCI Slots?

Have you checked if your SCSI firmware detect the 24E when you boot up the LP1000r?

Can you see the devices using #dmesg or #cat /proc/scsi/scsi?

And, how about the driver?
st (scsi tape) is either module or in your kernel?

what does this command say:

mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind

when you run it?

Hello EveryOne:
Best Regards to masanari iida & Craig Kelley,I had installed Tape on Lp1000r correctly.I just made a mistake that i did not put a magbetic tape in the HP tape!!So stupid mistake!Now I know Under Linux 7.1 ,It is no
need to do anything when install a HP Tape!
