Re: Installing Fedora 6 on dc5700
Try with another linux distro. I advice to try with a "LiveCD" first of install, to check all the hardware.
Also, check here:

Regards!

Re: Installing Fedora 6 on dc5700
I tried FC6 ZOD-LiveCD. Nada! I get to a prompt,"Uncomppressing Linux....Ok, booting kernel". Prompt just sits there flashing.
I'll try Ubuntu and other distros. I also looked at the how-to-linux site you suggested.
I teach networking and part of the class requires intro to Linux. The school purchased about 50 of the dc5700's without taking linux-certified into account.

My last message before install freezes is:
ACPI: Assume root bridge [\_SB_.PCI0] bus is 0

Re: Installing Fedora 6 on dc5700
If you start the install with "linux acpi=off", you'll get further down the road. But I get a err msg stating "Video input out of range"???
I've downloaded Ubuntu desktop 6.10 and I have Xandros 4.0. I'll post my results.

Re: Installing Fedora 6 on dc5700
mentions using pci=nommconf.
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1085796
mentions: acpi=off pci=noacpi
With FC6 I got to the graphical install screen using acpi=off. Haven't proceeded yet because I really want FC5 for various legacy reasons.
