Installing RedHat linux on xl170r gen9 server - step by step guide

Hi,

I am struggling to install Red Hat Linux 7.4 onto an HPE xl170r server. I tried the generic way from the OS CD, but when I boot up the installed OS, it does not boot because it cannot find the drives. When I tried Intelligien provisioning the stable release only support RedHat 7.3. When I tried 7.2 it could not find the installation media. I am using the iLo virtual media drive.

Why is installing an operating system so poorly documented and such a struggle?

There is really nothing special required to install from the OS media.  What mode do you have the embeeded SATA controller in? The recommeded setting is to have the controller in SATA AHCI mode and not RAID
