Installing SLES 10/11 64bit on G7 with Smart Array 410i
Hi,
i have a strange problem, when i´m installing SLES 10/11 64Bit. I´m creating my Array with the Smart Array 410i controller and starting the SLES 11 installation. At the point, where the installer checks the hardware, he checks also the partitions. Sometimes the installer says: Bad partition and he is not able to access it. Strange, because i have never seen this issue in the past. The only idea i have is, that it must be something with firmware from the 410i controllers. Above i wrote that this issue is coming sometimes only. There is no norm. I have tested with 3 diferrent DL380 G7, all with Smart Arry 410i. Sometimes the error comes, sometimes not. I tested following:
1) In the BIOS: Default settings with system disk erase.
2) Delete Array and create a new one with the Smart Array CLI
3) Delete Array and create a new one with the Smart Start CD
Please notice, it happen with SLES 10/11. Like i say above, i have never seen this in the past. And i have installed 20-30 SLES on Proliants in the last years. Because server are affected, which had never this errors, maybe the firmware updates for the Smart Array controllers cause this?
I have no idea. And you? ;-)
Thank you
Andreas
