Is disk bad or OK?

Hello,

I have RX2620 with HP-UX 11.31. The system has P400 controller with 4 disks. There is an orange light on one of disks. When I checked the controller with saconfig command, I got:
---------- PHYSICAL DRIVES ----------

Location Ct Enc Bay WWID Size Status

Internal 1I 1 6 0x5000c50005d48411 146.8 GB OK
Internal 1I 1 5 0x5000c50005d4ab6d 146.8 GB OK
Internal 2I 1 2 0x5000c50005d46e25 146.8 GB OK
Internal 2I 1 1 0x5000cca00a1693fd 146.8 GB OK

When I checked with sautil command, I got the following output for specific disk:

Re: Is disk bad or OK?

hi,

check in the syslog for error :

grep EMS /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log

http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/ems/dm_raid_adapter.htm

EVENT : Event 42 / 46 / 47

Re: Is disk bad or OK?

As mentioned earlier post, check on event.log

# dmesg
# cd /var/opt/resmon/log/
# more event.log

Finally check with (dd command) to confirm disk really bad
Problems are common to all, but attitude makes the difference

Re: Is disk bad or OK?

Hi,

how can I checked with dd one specific physical drive, which is part of RAID 1+0?

Re: Is disk bad or OK?

The drive reported an error but appears to be functioning for now.

Several things to do:

Verify/Update all firmware on disks, controller and enclosure
Make sure OS patches are up to date
Create/Assign a Hot Spare
Reseat the drive
Replace the drive

Event 42

Hi,
As orange/amber led blinks , then u can check that issue by replacing this particular disk.
