JAVA 1.5 doesn't launch on HPUX 11.11

Hi,
I downloaded the latest version of JRE 1.5 depot for HPUX 11.11 and swinstall went throught fine without any errors.

But when I execute /opt/java1.5/jre/bin/java -version , nothing happens, it just stays there until I kill it.

I installed the same version onto another system and it works fine.

Below is the model and the package installed and the PA RISC version number

# model
9000/800/R390
# swlist | grep -i java
Java15JRE 1.5.0.18.00 Java 1.5 JRE for HP-UX

# file /stand/vmunix
/stand/vmunix: ELF-64 executable object file - PA-RISC 2.0 (LP64)

Since there is no output from the "java" binary, I cant go any futher trobleshooting.

Can ideas or pointers ?

Did you try swverify ?

Not sure what the installer does in detail, but maybe it helps to logout and back in to activate profile changes.

I did a swverify and it looks fine.

Also I logged out of the session and logged in back and it doesn;t launch.

Thank you robert, the patch mentioned isn;t present and I have downloaded and installed from the HP website, but it doesn;t seem to resolve the issue.

Shalom Shankar,

I would swremove java.

Install any recommended patches from http://www.hp.com/go/java

Then swinstall java anew

I uninstalled JRE 1.5 and Installed all patches since Dec 2004 relating to JAVA 1.5 and the problem of memory hang got resolved.
