Kayak XM600 soundcard not working: PCI init problem

Hello,

The built-in soundcard - Crystal CS4280 doesn't seem to work under linux 2.6 (I tried Ubuntu and Knoppix)
During PCI initialization, right after the kernel boots, I get:

PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource #6:20000@f8000000

(Sorry, there might be less 0s in the latter, but I am on my windows PC - it's not in the reserved range, though)

I tried to track the problem and I think it fails at the init of the PCI bridge... Unfortunately, I can't yet debug it :(

After the system loads, ACPI shuts down the card and I can't hear sound.

I wanted to update the BIOS with the one from ASUS p3c-d, but aflash.exe complains with 'Can't find system BIOS' hook'.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,

Rouslan

Shalom,

Get an add in card thats supported by Linux. Trying to force this is a profitless waste of your time. Life is good when your hardware has the penguin logo on it. Otherwise, life kind of sucks.
